Elma Chamber of Commerce Presents Bayview Building Materials with Business of the Quarter Award
The Elma Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors presented the Business of the Quarter Award, for the 1st quarter of 2015, to Rick Jensen and Bayview Building Materials. The plaque was presented at Elma Grange Hall during the Elma Chamber of Commerce general membership meeting on April 15th.
Bayview Building Materials was presented the award based on enhancement to Elma and support of the business community. Bayview Building Materials opened in 1964 by well known veteran Bob Bush. Rick Jensen and partner Jim DePretto purchased the business in 2003. Many improvements have been made to the store including a new entrance, large storage building for plywood and other materials. In 2014 a large expansion of more than 5,000 sq. ft. plus a greenhouse was added to the store. With that expansion Bayview has added lawn and garden inventory, Christmas supplies and a huge fastener section as well as more hardware inventory.
Bayview Building Materials currently has 18 employees. A new event, Ladies Night Out was recently held at Bayview. It was a great time for the ladies attending with drawings, wine tasting and shopping. Ladies Night Out will be an annual event at Bayview Building Materials.
Bayview Building Materials supports the community in numerous ways. They sponsor and donate to organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Grays Harbor Fairgrounds, 4H, FFA and others. Bayview Building Materials participate in and sponsor chamber events and activities including the Winter Wine Festival, City-Wide Garage Sale, Heat on the Street Car Show and Downtown Trick or Treat. Rick Jensen has served on the Elma Chamber Board of Directors for five years and currently serves as past president.
